CollegePlus! – www.collegeplus.org
After spending two years and two quarters earning credits at a community college and state university, I enrolled with CollegePlus! to finish up my degree. With them it took me one year to accumulate the final credits I needed to “graduate” from Thomas Edison State College, an independent study college. I would highly recommend CollegePlus! to anyone.

Clep Tests – www.collegeboard.com/clep
Clep tests are one type of credit-by-examination test, where you can earn college credits just by studying one subject and taking the test on it. Cleps are pass/fail, so if you get a high enough score, you pass and get the credits. If you don’t pass, you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can take the test again.
There are various study guides available by different publishers for each of the tests. One of the popular ones is REA. I’ve used a lot of their books with great success. Another good one is Comex, but you can’t find a lot of their books new. Try looking for used versions at places like www.half.com. I personally liked the Comex guides better than the REA books, but again, they’re harder to find.
You don’t have to be in college in order to take Clep tests. They’d be great for homeschooled high school students who want to get a jump start on earning college credits.

DANTES tests – www.getcollegecredit.com
Dantes are another type of credit-by-examination test. I personally only took one of these tests because of the specific requirements I needed for my degree, so I’m not as familiar with them. But they are another option.
